In this article we will continue to take a look at all draft eligible prospects from the west region of Division 1, both FBS and FCS. In this article we are specifically looking at the Seniors from the Big Sky Conference, San Diego (Pioneer Conference), and Dixie State (Independent). I will note starters going into 2020 and players to watch so we can find out who to keep an eye on in the 2020 college football season. I will designate expected starters with (*).
Big Sky Conference
Weber State:
Jared Schiess – DL *
Isiah Jackson – WR
Ty Whitworth – OL *
Ben Bos – OL *
Cole McGinnis – OL
Sherwin Lavaka – LB

Rashid Shaheed – WR *
David Ames – WR *
Preston Smith – S *
Kevin Smith Jr. – RB
David Jones – CB
Players to Watch:
Rashid Shaheed – The Weber State receiver has posted 1,378 total yards on offense on 109 touches. He also has 1,995 career return yards on a combined 86 kick and punt returns over the last three years.
Trey Tuttle – Tuttle has made 61/80 field goals, which is 76% on his career in 42 games played. He is a two time All-American at the FCS level.
Ty Whitworth – the 6’4”, 300lbs Offensive Lineman has started all 42 games of his career and is an on field and academic All-American.
Southern Utah University:
Jay Green Jr. –RB *

Landen Measom –WR *
Khalid Taylor –CB *
Kameron Jackson –CB
Lukas Elmore –LS
Judd Cockett –WR *
Oscar Burgueno –DT
Cody Frampton –DL
Mark Kruger –DL
Players to Watch:
Manny Berz: Berz as the main punter for SUU in 2019, but after 6 games he was transitioned into the place kicker role. On punts in he only averaged around 35 yards per punt, which isn’t fantastic, but with 4/6 FG’s made on the season and 14/18 FG’s and 41 PATs in his career Berz could be an interesting candidate to be a CFL specialist after is his 2020 senior season.
Judd Cockett: Crockett’s numbers on the offensive side of the ball aren’t incredible, in 2019 he only caught 15 passes for a total of 168 yards, but the Hawaii native shows real value in the return game. As SUU’s primary kick and punt returner, Crockett contributed with 846 return yards on 50 attempts which is almost 50 yards per attempt. I expect him to be a major contributor in the return game again in 2020.
California State University, Sacramento:
Daron Bland –DB *
Brandon Boccaleoni –OL
Isaiah Butler –DB
Elijah Chambers –DL *
Elijah Dotson –RB *
Josiah Erickson –DL *
Marcus Hawkins –LB *
Wyatt Hjelm –DL
Malik Jeter –DB *
Brysen Klinefelter –OL
Joey Lewis –WR
Robert Lewis –DB
Cedric McAfee –DB
Elijah Orr –DB
Thomas Parker –OL *

Martin Robles –DL
Killian Rosko –DL *
Johnnie Rucker –WR *
Elias Sernas –LB
Kevin Thomson –QB *
Lucas Triplett –WR
Peter Vadasz –OL
Prince Washington –DB *
Players to Watch:
Daron Bland: 2019 was a big year for Bland as a second-year starter for the Hornets. He had 43 total tackles, 6.5 TFLs. 1 sack, 2 INTs, 2 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery, and 8 pass breakups. He was named to the First Team all-Big Sky Conference in 2019 as well.
Kevin Thomson: Kevin Thomson is a solid football player that could be starting at a handful of FBS schools. In 2019 he was named Big Sky Player of the Year and he was third in voting for the Walter Payton Award (Best FCS Player). 2019 saw him throw for 3,216 yards and 27 TDs. His knock would be that he only had a 58.8 completion percentage last year. If he can get that percentage up in 2020, look for him to be a late round NFL pick or priority UDFA.
Elijah Dotson: Like his teammates Thomson and Bland, Dotson earned First Team all-Big Sky Conference in 2019. In 2019 he had 1,445 total yards (742 rushing yards, 702 receiving) from scrimmage, and 11 total touchdowns. He could be the next big small school running back to make it in the NFL.
Portland State:
Carlton Lorenz –OL *
Easton Trakel –WR
Davis Alexander –QB *
KJ Walker –S *
Malik Walker –RB
Arin Mannery –CB *
Nicolas Ah Sam –LB *
Ryan Lesch –S *
Ty Apana-Purcell –S
Steffen Jacobsen –LB
Riley Shackelford –LS *
Cody Brown –DE
Noah Yunker –DL *
Dylan Hanley –LB *
Daniel Giannosa –TE
Babak Ghadaksaz –OL *
John Krahn –OL *
Tommy Laverde –OL *
Carlos Barraza –OL *
Emmanuel Daigbe –WR *
Semise Kofe –DT *
Seth Vernon –P *
Players to Watch:
Emmanuel Daigbe: Daigbe is a super athlete that provides value both on offense and on special teams. He was named to the first team all-Big Sky as a special teamer and 3rd team as a receiver. He led the team in receiving with 40 receptions, 651 yards and 7 TDs in 2019, and also had 8 kick returns for 156 yards and 11 special team tackles and 1 fumble recovery. With great value as a Gunner, he could get a look in the NFL as a Matthew Slater type guy.
Nicholas Ah Sam: As a first-year starter in 2019, Ah Sam had 36 tackles, 7 TFLs, 1.5 sacks, and 1 forced fumble. He plays a position which they call a WHIP Linebacker, in their “Flex Defense” scheme which has an extra LB move into the box so they out number the offensive blockers. He fits the role of a Haason Reddick that can play the edge or off ball. He was suspended for one game in 2018, so their may be some character issues to look into.
Semise Kofe: Kofe has the size of a prototypical nose tackle in the NFL. A big bodied run stopper, the 6’2” 315lbs Portland native had 30 total tackles, 7.5 TFLs, and 2.5 sacks in his 2019 junior season.
John Krahn: Krahn is the only player to watch from PSU that I will mention that wasn’t a starter in 2019, but his massive size is something that will grab the attention of scouts. At 6’10, 410lbs, the mammoth offensive lineman is expected to have a starting job in 2020. I am looking forward to watching film on Krahn to see if he has quick enough hands and feet to be able to play at the next level. If not could be a possibly candidate to transition to a nose tackle based solely on his size.
University of Northern Colorado:
Brandon Biggs –DE *
Sam Flowers –WR *
Justice Littrell –LB
Jerone Jackson –S *
Jaire Moore –RB
Noah Sol –WR *
Denario Critton –DB *
Eddie Gonzales III –DT *
Matthew Gaiter –OL *
Sean Reemts –OL *
Kyle Ergenbright –OL *
James Stanton –OL
Martin Ibarra –OL
Players to Watch:
Jerone Jackson: Jackson had the second most total tackles with 105 for the Bears in 2019 from the safety position. He also added 4.0 TFLs, 2.0 sacks, 3 pass breakups, and 1 forced fumble last year. In high school he ran a 48.54 sec 400m dash so you know he’s got some solid speed that will help him in coverage and as a special teamer at the next level (WR 400m dash is 43.03 sec).
Eddie Gonzales III: Voted to be the team captain by his teammates, Gonzales is the top returning defensive lineman for UNC in 2020. In his junior season as a defensive tackle he had 30 total tackles, 3.5 TFL’s, 2.0 sacks, 3 QB hurries, and 1 forced fumble. His sacks and QB hurry numbers ranked second on the team. He is currently listed at 6’3”, 295lbs and plays both inside and end. He could be a solid late round 3-4 end in the draft next April.
Northern Arizona University:
Brandon Lawless –DL *
Sherrod Paige –LB
Tristen Vance –LB *
Trevor Reinwald –OL *
Stacy Chukwumezie –WR *
Marcel Myers –DB
Adam Giordano –TE *
Carson Taylor –EDGE *
Heston Lameta –LB
Harrison Beemiller –LB *
Keondre Wudtee –QB *
DJ Arnson –P *
Aramis Aldredge –RB
Luis Aguilar –K *
Luke Rudolph –OL
JaSean Harrison –OL
Emmanuel Joseph –DL *
Donovan Outlaw –OL *
Justin Hathoot –LS *
Adonis Battle –DL
Players to Watch:
Tristen Vance: After a 2018 season that saw Vance place second on the team in total tackles with 73, he was forced to sit out the 2019 season due to injury. He is expected to get back into the starting lineup in 2020 and lead the NAU defense once again. In 33 total games he has 119 total tackles, 2.0 sacks, 5 pass breakups, and 3 fumble recoveries.
Stacy Chukwumezie: the former JUCO product had a breakout season in 2019 for the Lumberjacks. In 12 starts he contributed with 963 yards on 50 receptions and also added 8 TDs. 17 of his receptions went for more than 20 yards and 5 of his TDs were for more than 50 yards, so clearly, he shows some game breaking ability. His longest career catch went for 94 yards vs Weber State last season. In high school he broke Richard Sherman’s longjump school record as he jumped for 23’ 8”. His explosiveness will be something for scouts to look at in their reports.
DJ Arnson: Arnson was named to the all-Big Sky Conference team as a punter in 2019. He led the Big Sky with 45.8 yard per punt average and was third in the FCS with 2,612 punt yards on 57 attempts. He not only showed that he had a powerful leg as he hit 16 punts for 50 yards, but he also showed the ability to place his punts as he downed 19 inside the coffin corner (inside the 20 yard line), with only 1 going for a touchback. He recorded at least one punt of 60 yards per game in 2019.
Eastern Washington:
Talolo Limu-Jones –WR
Eric Barriere –QB *
Dennis Merritt –RB
Ty Graham –LB
Tamarick Pierce –RB
Calin Criner –DB *
Kedrick Johnson –DB *
Joe Lang –DB
Tamir Hill –DB
Rudolph Mataia Jr. –DL
Jusstis Warren –EDGE *
Keith Moore –DL *
Conner Crist –OL *
Nicholas Blair –OL
Trenton Harris –TE
Jack Sendelbach –LB
Tristen Taylor –OL
Johnny Edwards IV –WR *
Players to Watch:
Eric Barriere: Since the 6th game of the 2018 season, Barriere has been the starter at QB for EWU. Since then he has gone 16-7 and a perfect 11-0 on their home red turf. Last year he came in 5th in Walter Payton award voting (best FCS player in the nation). Barriere is a true dual threat QB that lacks ideal NFL size, but could be the next great Eagle to play in the CFL. In his career he has thrown for 6,300 yards on 775 attempts, which is good for 60% completion rate. Obviously, you would like to see that percentage a few points higher, but Barriere is safe with the ball as he only has 14 career interceptions in comparison to 56 passing TDs. Going into 2020 he is just 13 yards behind former QB Vernon Adams in QB rushing yards (Barriere has 1,219 yards on 236 attempts, and 17 TDs) He also has a career long of a 92-yard rush. It will be interesting to see if Barriere decides to try to switch positions during the 2021 draft process to get a better shot at making the NFL.
Kendrick Johnson: Johnson has mainly been a special teams role player with EWU during his career, however at 6’3” 215lbs, his size is something I love to see at the cornerback position. In 30 career games he has 98 total tackles, 9 TFLs, 2.0 sacks, 1 forced fumble, and 4 pass breakups. He was a track athlete in high school as well, so the athleticism and size make him at least an intriguing special teams’ prospect at the next level.
Johnny Edwards IV: Edwards IV is the top returning receiver for the Eagles in 2020. He was tied for 3rd on the team in receiving in 2019 with 553 yards on 32 receptions. He also had 3 receiving TDs on the season. Look for him to be the main offensive target for Eric Barriere in 2020 as the Eagles have lost their top receivers and rushers from 2019. In his career he is averaging 15.8 yards per catch.
Keith Moore: Moore only played in the last 8 games of 2019, but he did start all of them on the defensive line. He finished the season with 27 total tackles, 1.0 sack, 3 QB hurries, and 2 forced fumbles. He was tied for 3rd on the team with 4.5 TFLs. Moore should be a major contributor as the top senior defensive lineman for the Eagles in 2020.
Idaho:
Brian Robinson –OL *
Cameron Townsend –DL *
Robert Miller –LB
Charles Akanno –LB *
Cade Coffey –K/P *
Theo Griffin –DL
Dylan Thigpen –RB
Kayode Rufai –DL *
Rahsaan Crawford –DL *
Bruce Burns –OL
Conner Vrba –OL *
Christian Elliss –LB
Jalan Jenkins –LB
Tevin Duke –DB
Colton Richardson –QB *
Jalen Hoover –DB *
Tyrese Dedmon –DB *
Leonick Tamba –LB
Vei Tomasi –DL
Jonah Kim –DL
Players to Watch:
Christian Elliss: The Vandals starting middle linebacker was named to the all-big sky third team in 2019. He ranked 2nd on the team in both total tackles (104) and TFLs (12.5) in his junior season last year. He led the team with 4.5 sacks, and also contributed with 1 INT, 2 pass breakups, 7 QB hurries, 1 fumble recovery and 1 blocked kick. He comes from a football family as his brother also played at Idaho and his father Luther Elliss is a former NFL all pro and the current Idaho Vandals defensive line coach. At 6’3”, 233 he has great size to play at the next level.
Tyrese Dedmon: Next to Elliss, Dedmon is probably the second-best senior on defense for the Vandals heading into 2020. In 2019, Dedmon was 3rd on the team with 60 total tackles. He also contributed with 2.5 TFLs, 2 INTs, 8 pass’ defended, and 2 forced fumbles. He is heading into 2020 projected as a starting safety.
Cade Coffey: Coffey plays the role as both the starting kicker and punter for the Idaho Vandals. As a kicker in 2019, Coffey was good for 9 of 16 FGs, where he was a perfect 6-6 between 20-29 yards. He was also perfect on extra points as he hit 39 of 39. He may lack the leg strength as his longest FG last season was 38 yards (46 is his career long). In the punting game last year, he averaged 43.8 yards per punt, where 21 were good for 50+ yards and he managed to down 22 inside the 20, with only 9 touchbacks. His longest punt in 2019 was for 73 yards. Coffey was also the main man on kickoff duties, where he had 2,715 total yards and 18 touchbacks. Aside from possible leg power issues, he has also had a 11 punting/kicking attempts blocked in his career, but that may be credited to bad blocking in front of him.
Idaho State:
Matt Peterson –WR *
Matt Struck –QB *
Manase Time –S *
Isaiah Walter –WR *
Oshea Trujillo –LB *
Kennon Smith –LB
Alex Espinoza –S
Colton Belnap –S
David Allish –K
Tanner Conner –WR *
Nate Shubert –TE
Raemo Trevino –DL *
Kainoa Fuiava –DL *
TJ Togiai –DL
Rasheed Williams –DL *
Players to Watch:
Matt Struck: Returning in 2020 as the starting Quarter Back for ISU, Struck looks to improve on a 2019 season that saw him throw for 2,334 yards on 320 attempts. His 51% completion percentage is low, but apparently, he has a cannon of an arm, with his longest completion of the season going for 73 yards. He had 20 passing TDs to 12 INTs. If what his past and current coaches say about his arm strength is true, he could fit the mold of a gun slinger who struggles with turnovers but has the ability to hit a home run on any play.
Oshea Trujillo: Trujillo was a solid contributor to the ISU defense in 2019. In 12 games he had 64 total tackles, 6.5 TFLs, 2.5 sacks, 2 INTS, 5 pass’ defended, 4 QB hurries, 1 forced fumble, and 1 TD. The Seattle native should be relied on heavily in 2020 as most of the stat leaders ahead of him have moved on from ISU.
Tanner Conner: Conner was arguably the best receivers the Bangles had in 2019. He was second on the team in both receiving yards and receptions, 792 yards on 47 receptions, but he had the most receiving touchdowns (8) and the highest average per game at 72.0. At 6’3”, 210lbs he will be the top receiving threat returning to ISU in 2020.

Cam Humphrey –QB *
Gavin Robertson –S *
Omar Hicks Onu –CB *
Samori Toure –WR *
Samuel Akem –WR *
Gavin Crow – S/LB *
Mykal Tolliver –CB
Trase Le Texier –TE

Matthew O’Donoghue –LS *
Joe Babros –DE
Dylan Cook –OT *
Kordell Pillans –OG
Conlan Beaver –OT *
Ryan Arntson –RB
Moses Mallory –OG *
Danny Burton –WR
Players to Watch:
Samuel Akem: Akem has been a big-time contributor on offense for the Grizzlies since his 2017 sophomore season. In 32 career games, the 6’4” receiver has a total of 1,934 receiving yards and 20 TDs on 136 receptions. Aside from being one of the top receivers in the Big Sky, his big frame could make him an intriguing red zone threat prospect in next years draft.
Jace Lewis: Lewis ranked number 2 of 3 Montana defensive players that had over 128 total tackles in 2019 (Lewis had 131). The starting Linebacker also led the team with 12.0 TFLs, and contributed with 4.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and 1 fumble recovery. He could come into an NFL locker room as a solid special teamer, who eventually grows into a top run stopping Inside Linebacker.
Gavin Robertson: Robertson is heads into 2020 as one of the team starting safeties and top defensive players. In 2019 he was forth on the team in total tackles with 72, and also had 2.5 TFLs, 1.0 sack, 2 INTs, 6 pass deflections, and 1 fumble recovery. In 2018 he was voted as the teams hardest hitter, which always is a plus to have on your roster when it comes from the safety position.
Montana State:
Chacho Ulloa –S *
John Clark –DL *
Greg Filer III –CB *
Tyrel Thomas –CB *
Troy Andersen –OLB *
Luke May –S
Davine Tullis –RB *
Blake Flovin –ILB
Daniel Hardy –OLB *
Ryan Davis –TE *

Taylor Tuiasosopo –OL *
Kyle Finch –DL
Jake Sessions –OL *
Denver Krone –OL *
Lewis Kidd –OL*
Lance McCutcheon –WR *
Michael Jobman –ILB *
Amandre Williams –DL *
Players to Watch:
Troy Andersen: The majority of the top defensive players from the 2019 team are not returning to Bozman in 2020, but luckily one of the guys returning is Troy Andersen at Outside Linebacker. The 2019 first team Hero Sports All-American had a well-rounded season in 2019 with 54 total tackles, 11.5 TFLs, 6.5 Sacks, 1 fumble recovery and 1 forced fumble. At 6’4, 233lbs and a solid ability to get into the backfield, he looks to be a mid-round 3-4 Outside Linebacker at the next level.
Lewis Kidd: The Second team all-Big Sky Guard is the anchor of the Bobcats Offensive Line. Kidd is 6’6”, 312 pounder also has some experience at Right Tackle which will up his value going into next April’s draft. He has started every game over the past 2 seasons.
UC Davis:
Isaiah Thomas –DB/PR *
Jared Harrell –WR *
Khris Vaughn –WR *
Brock Johnson –QB *
Erron Duncan –DB *

Terrell Sayles –LB
Colton Lamson –OL *
Joe Albrecht –OL
Kooper Richardson –OL *
Darius Livingston –WR *
De’Andre Morgan –DL
John Aloma –LS *
Bryce Rodgers –DL *
Kyree Woods –DL
Players to Watch:
Bryce Rodgers: The 6’3”, 285lbs Rodgers was the top Defensive Lineman for the Aggies last year, and should assume that same title in 2020. In 2019 he had 49 total tackles, 6.0 TFLs, 4.0 sacks, 7 QB hurries, and 1 fumble recovery.
Kris Vaughn: Vaughn led UC Davis every major receiving category in 2019. He had 756 yards on 53 receptions, and also had 9 TDs. He averaged 14.26 yards per reception and 63.0 yards per game. He should be the main threat for the offense again in 2020.
Connor Airey: Airey comes into the 2020 season as the team’s top linebacker. In 2019 he had 76 total tackles, 2.5 TFLs, 2.0 sacks, and 1 fumble recovery. He was also named as team captain in 2019 and looks to be a team leader again in 2020.
Cal Poly:
Ryan Boehm –DE *
Juanie Campbell –SB
Cameron Crump –DB
Chuby Dunu –SB
Chris Flood –DL
Saia Fonongaloa –DL
Freddie Gaines –DB *
Junior Gaitan –OL *
Ben Hakimi –DB
Quentin Harrison –WR *
Drew Hernandez –SB *
Griffin Kemp –DL
Lepi Lataimua –SB *
Ryan McNab –WR
Bradley Mickey –DB *
Jaylen Morgan –DB *

Ryan Robards –SB
Joey Ruiz –LB *
Matt Shotwell –LB *
Sawyer Sobelman –OL/LS *
Apefai Taifane –OL
Lance Vecchio –LB
Richard Watkins –DL
Nick White –TE *
Players to Watch:
Quentin Harrison: Unlike the other teams we have visited on this list, Cal Poly doesn’t have their 2019 statistics readily found on the internet, so I had to gather as much information as I possibly could to make some what of a judgement call on their players. At 6’3″, 200lbs, Quentin Harrison will be the main receiving target returning to Cal Poly in 2020. From what I was able to dig up on his 2019 stats, he had 337 receiving yards on 17 receptions and 5 TDs. Obviously these numbers are not great compared to the other receivers on this list, however Cal Poly uses a triple option offense, so obviously the receiving numbers will be lower across the board. On special teams, Harrison also provided some value in the return game last season. With their number 1 receiver from 2019 graduating, look for Harrison’s numbers to improve in 2020.
Lepi Lataimua: Most of the top players for Cal Poly last year on offense were in their first and second year with the Mustangs, however Lepi Lataimua was a decent role player from one of their starting slot back positions. In their offense he was mainly used as a rusher, and he had 274 yards and 1 TD on 33 carries in 2019. As a guy who played on the defensive side of the ball for his first two seasons at Cal Poly, I can only assume he will get better in 2020.
Pioneer League Conference
University of San Diego:
Jacob Bergstrom –DE *
Nolan Bisogno –G *
Cody Darrow –LB
Nick Friedel –DE *
Kevin Glajchen –DT *
Michael Keating –TE
Cody Laut –DT
Mato Pacheco –CB
Mason Randall –QB
Chris Reese –DE
Aidan Valencia –OL *
Kyle Bilchik –LB *
Michael Hawkins –CB *
Cassius Johnson –CB *
Kama Kamaka –DB *
Emilio Martinez –RB
Brandon Micale –FB *
Terrence Smith –RB *
Alex Spadone –WR *
Myles Wilson –DT *
Players to Watch:
Aidan Valencia: Valencia capped off a strong 2019 junior season by being named to the all-Pioneer League first team, as a Left Tackle. Standing at 6’6″, 275lbs, Valencia will need to add a few more pounds to be solid at the next level, however he showed great technique last season as he only gave up 1 sack on 382 passing downs. He is also good in the run game as he only allowed 3 TFLs all season. With his experience at both Left and Right Tackle he could be an interesting prospect in 2020.
Kama Kamaka: Kamaka was an all around leader for the Torero’s from the Nickle Back position in 2019. He led the team in total tackles with 72, led the team in TFLs with 9.0, led the team in forced fumbles with 4, was tied for second on the team with 2.5 sacks and was also second on the team with 2 fumble recoveries. He also had 1 interception and 5 pass breakups on the season. At 6’1″, 210lbs, he could be a solid project player for the NFL, but he also looks to be a prototypical Defensive Halfback in the CFL. The Hawaii native was also named to the first team all-Pioneer League team.
Independent
Dixie State:
Andrew Kannely-Robles –RB *
Blake Kilgore –TE
Ty Murphy –DB
James Baird –K *
Isaac Fotu –DL
Chase Hess –TE *
Kyle Murray –DL *
D’Arman Notoa –RB *
Deven Osborne –WR *
Jalen Powell –WR *
Tariq Wright –DT
Players to Watch:
Jalen Powell: Powell is the top returning receiver to Dixie State as they move from Div-2 to the FCS. In 2019 he had 557 yards on 44 receptions. He also added 5 TDs to his stat line in his 11 games last season. He looks to be the top target for the Trailblazer’s in 2020.
Chase Hess: Another top returning player to Dixie State in 2020 is Tight End Chase Hess. Hess had a solid season last year in Div-2 which saw him co-lead the Trailblazers in TD receptions with 7. He also had 354 yards on 23 receptions for an average of 15.4 yards per catch. He should be the number 2 target for the offense in 2020 behind Powell.
Deven Osborne: Dixie State has a lot of transfer players coming into their program into the 2020 season, so I didn’t think it was fair to comment on them as players to watch, as they will still need to learn a new system this year, but one of their returning players in 2020 who caught my eye is Wide Receiver Deven Osborne. Standing at 6’7″, his height alone may get attention from scouts as a potential Red Zone threat or a flex Tight End at the next level. His career stats are not great, especially from a guy that has started his fair share of games, but his size is what makes him a potential target at the next level.
