Although Super Bowl LV is still three days away, the anticipation grows more and more each day. Below are 10 things you should know before you watch the matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
1) If the Kansas City Chiefs win their second consecutive Super Bowl, they will become just the eighth team in NFL history to do so.
2) Tom Brady is making his 10th career Super Bowl appearance, which is an NFL record. If his team wins, he will become the only player in NFL history to have won seven Super Bowls.
3) If Mahomes and the Chiefs win, the 25-year-old signal caller will become the youngest starting quarterback in NFL history to win two Super Bowls. Brady won his second at the age of 26.
4) Brady is looking to join a list that features only Peyton Manning. If the Buccaneers win, TB12 will join the Hall of Famer as the only two starting quarterbacks to win a Super Bowl with two different franchises.
5) This year’s Super Bowl features the largest age gap between the two starting quarterbacks from each team: Brady (43) and Mahomes (25).
6) The matchup between Mahomes and Brady features the first time the previous two Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks face off in the next Super Bowl. Mahomes and the Chiefs won last season while Tom Brady and his former team, the New England Patriots, won the season prior.
7) Tampa Bay is 7-0 since losing to the Chiefs back in Week 12. The final score was 27-24, but Kansas City held a 27-10 lead going into the fourth quarter.
8) Since 2005, the team wearing white jerseys is 13-3. Tampa Bay will play in their white jerseys for Super Bowl LV.
9) The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the first team in NFL history to play in a Super Bowl on their home field.
10) The Chiefs went 8-0 this season on the road while the Buccaneers went 5-3 playing on their home field.
