Welcome everyone to another sneak peek of an NFL Draft prospect interview! Alex Greb and I hosted Western Michigan defensive end Ali Fayad today. Ali, a 6’2″ 255 lb. edge rusher, has been an ultra-productive impact player for four years for the Broncos, being named Second-Team All-MAC in 2019 and earning a Pro Football Focus pass rush rating of 90.4 in 2020. Ali chose to return to Western Michigan for a fifth year in 2021 and will be heading to the NFL Draft in 2022. He talks to us about his journey as a football player, Western Michigan’s lofty goals for 2021, and the piece of advice his mother gave him years ago that saved his career. Here are some of our favorite quotes:
- “My favorite game in college was against USC, playing my very first game against Sam Darnold and Ronald Jones was really fun.”
- On his decision to return to WMU for a 5th year after an injury-ridden 2020 season: “I didn’t wanna give them half of me when I knew I could give them all of me.”
- “I’m a premier pass rusher but all around I’m dominant in the run game too.”
- “We’re gonna win it all (the MAC conference) this coming year. That’s the goal and that’s the only goal. Anything less is a failure.”
- “I’m just ready to go fulfill my dreams.”
