Alex’s Final 7-Round 2021 NFL Mock Draft

Here is my seven-round 2021 NFL Mock Draft. Each First Round pick is accompanied by an explanation for each pick. Without further ado, here it is:

Round 1

  1. Jacksonville Jaguars: Trevor Lawrence, QB Clemson

This pick has been known since Trevor Lawrence won the 2019 CFB National Championship.

  1. New York Jets: Zach Wilson, QB BYU

Joe Douglas basically admitted this pick in press conferences multiple times.

  1. San Francisco 49ers: Trey Lance, QB North Dakota State

The consensus says Mac Jones, but I just have a gut-feeling it’s Lance. I’m probably wrong, but oh well.

  1. Atlanta Falcons: Kyle Pitts, TE Florida

The seemingly league-wide consensus has been Pitts for over a month.

  1. Cincinnati Bengals: Ja’Marr Chase, WR LSU

I would go Sewell here, but it seems like it will be Chase.

  1. Miami Dolphins: Jaylen Waddle, WR Alabama

I think the Dolphins will want to trade out of this pick strongly, if both Pitts and Chase are off the board. If they stay, it seems like Waddle will be the pick. Teams have also been rumored to want to trade up for Waddle so, even with a Dolphins trade-down, he may still be the pick.

  1. Detroit Lions: Penei Sewell, OT Oregon

Sewell is too good of an OT to pass up on. Detroit simply goes BPA (Best Player Available).

  1. Carolina Panthers: Justin Fields, QB Ohio State

Not sure if the Panthers stay here and pick. They may want to move out and, if they do, I would assume the pick here would be Fields. However, they haven’t picked up Darnold’s 5th year option yet, so I wouldn’t rule them out of picking Fields here either.

  1. Denver Broncos: Rashawn Slater, OT Northwestern

The Broncos are a mystery. I’ve heard that Slater won’t fall out of the top 10, and the Broncos could improve their Offensive Line, so why not?

  1. Dallas Cowboys: Patrick Surtain II, CB Alabama

The Cowboys aren’t tempted by an Offensive Lineman and end up picking the #1 CB on their board, which I believe is Surtain II.

  1. New York Giants: DeVonta Smith, WR Alabama

The Giants can look to fill a lot of different spots here. Peter King reported that Joe Judge loves DeVonta Smith, so I think they listen to their coach. In an important year for Daniel Jones, they give him no excuses.

  1. Philadelphia Eagles: Jaycee Horn, CB South Carolina

The Eagles could also go a few different ways here. Kwity Paye will probably get some consideration here, but they do need to upgrade their Secondary badly.

  1. Los Angeles Chargers: Christian Darrisaw, OT Virginia Tech

Protecting their young QB is the only correct option, and the Chargers make the correct decision by taking Darrisaw.

  1. Minnesota Vikings: Alijah Vera-Tucker, OT USC

The Vikings could easily go with an Edge Rusher here, but I’ve heard a lot connecting them to AVT.

  1. New England PatriotsKwity Paye, DE Michigan

Some people have said Paye may end up going in the top 15, and the Patriots end up picking who I think is THE DE to get in this draft.

  1. Arizona Cardinals: Zaven Collins, LB Tulsa

Collins has been connected here by a lot of people, including Mike Florio, who said that he has been told they will go Collins if Jaylen Waddle, Patrick Surtain II, and Jaycee Horn are gone, “write it down in ink”.

  1. Las Vegas Raiders: Micah Parsons, LB Penn State

Parsons hasn’t been connected to a ton of teams, but I think he is a player who would cause the Raiders to sprint up their card.

  1. Miami Dolphins: Jaelan Phillips, DE Miami

Miami will probably end up going EDGE here, and Phillips would be a great fit for their defense.

  1. Washington Football Team: Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, LB Notre Dame

Ron Rivera will love having JOK to move around in his defense.

  1. Chicago Bears: Mac Jones, QB Alabama

Andy Dalton is not the long term answer for the Bears, and I don’t think Mac Jones will be either. That being said, I think they will take a chance on Jones here, if he is still available.

  1. Indianapolis Colts: Azeez Ojulari, DE Georgia

The Colts aren’t afraid of Ojulari’s knees, and they also need to upgrade that pass rush.

  1. Tennessee Titans: Caleb Farley, CB Virginia Tech

The Titans need an upgrade at CB, and Farley fits the bill. If it wasn’t for his injury, he would have been taken earlier.

  1. New York Jets: Teven Jenkins, OT Oklahoma State

The Jets get an upgrade on the Offensive Line in Teven Jenkins, who they are rumored to love.

  1. Pittsburgh Steelers: Najee Harris, RB Alabama

The Steelers badly need to upgrade their Running Back position and they do so by taking the best RB in the draft class in Harris, who they have been connected to throughout the draft process.

  1. Jacksonville Jaguars: Greg Newsome II, CB Northwestern

Although they just drafted C.J. Henderson last year, CB is still a big need, and Newsome II can fill the role with the second 1st round pick acquired from the Jalen Ramsey trade.

  1. Cleveland Browns: Jamin Davis, LB Kentucky

The Browns’ biggest position of need is LB, and they fill that with the high-rising LB from Kentucky.

  1. Baltimore Ravens: Elijah Moore, WR Ole Miss

Baltimore needs to upgrade their WR core. Elijah Moore ends up being the fourth WR selected, and he is rumored to be fourth on many teams’ boards.

  1. New Orleans Saints: Trevon Moehrig-Woodard, S TCU

Sean Peyton said the Secondary needs to be upgraded, and Moehrig-Woodard does just that.

  1. Green Bay Packers: Rashod Bateman, WR Minnesota

Aaron Rodgers finally gets his other WR. Enough said.

  1. Buffalo Bills: Travis Etienne Jr., RB Clemson

Running Back is the biggest position of need, and the Bills fill it with Etienne Jr., who will make that offense even more dangerous.

  1. Baltimore Ravens: Landon Dickerson, C Alabama

The Ravens seem to be in love with Dickerson, and they don’t have a Round 2 pick to take him with. They could also move back into the early Second Round here.

  1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Christian Barmore, DT Alabama

Tampa Bay can do whatever they want here, so I have them taking a Defensive Tackle to replace Ndamukong Suh when he retires.

Round 2

  1. Jacksonville Jaguars: Pat Freiermuth, TE Penn State
  2. New York Jets: Javonte Williams, RB North Carolina
