Ladies and gentlemen, football begins this month! I can’t believe we are here again to welcome in a brand new college football season and, while the summer is my favorite season, football couldn’t come any sooner! Full stands are expected for the 2021 season, after issues with Covid-19 either limited attendance, postponed, or canceled games altogether. This failed to offer any consistency for the players, coaches, students, and fans in general. I’m hopeful and excited that we’ll be able to enjoy a full season without interruptions and be able to see the best players compete week in and week out to improve their draft stocks, and ultimately win. We’ve looked at the best odds for the Pac-12 Conference and Big 12 Conference, but now we shift our focus to the ACC Conference, which has a perennial favorite locked in to win the conference once again. There could be a sneaky challenger (more on that in a second), but this is looking like one of the more lopsided conferences in the nation. The odds for this article have been provided by the DraftKings sportsbook, so we can hopefully win you some cash to spend this holiday season! Let’s take a look!

  • Clemson -750
  • North Carolina +800
  • Miami +900
  • Virginia Tech +3000
  • Louisville +3500
  • North Carolina State +4000
  • Wake Forest +4500
  • Pittsburgh +4500
  • Boston College +5000
  • Florida State +5000
  • Virginia +5500
  • Georgia Tech +10000
  • Syracuse +15000
  • Duke +20000

As you can see, the odds are very lopsided in favor of Clemson (-750), even with the loss of QB Trevor Lawrence, RB Travis Etienne, WR Amari Rodgers, and OL Jackson Carman. Lawrence is being replaced by a former five-star recruit in QB DJ Uiagalelei, who filled in for him last season for two games while he was out with COVID. This squad is armed to still be one of the best four teams in the entire country when it is all said and done. You’d have to bet $750 for Clemson to win the ACC in order for you to win $100, which is not the best value, but it’s obviously the most logical choice. The only team I would consider putting money towards would be North Carolina (+800). The Tar Heels return one of their more prolific passers, junior QB Sam Howell (read more about him here in an article written by our own Kosta Boskovic), who is playing to position himself as the top overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, and the pressure couldn’t be higher. This past season, Howell lost WR Dyami Brown (third round), WR Dazz Newsome (sixth round), RB Javonte Williams (second round), and RB Michael Carter (fourth round), which is a credit to HC Mack Brown for developing talent along the way. Having to build a rapport with a new cast will certainly present some challenges if the Tar Heels want to upset the Clemson Tigers for ACC bragging rights. If Howell wants to prove that he’s worth the top pick, he’ll have to play out of his mind this season with this new supporting cast.

The Miami Hurricanes (+900) would be another team to look at, as they are led by graduate transfer, QB D’Eriq King. Their only two losses in the conference last year were to Clemson and UNC, so they will looking to get exorcise those demons. They have a chance to get revenge against UNC in Chapel Hill on October 16, 2021, so that’ll be a game to keep tabs on. Overall, I’m not hopping off the Clemson train just yet and I believe they still wind up winning the ACC at -750 but, for the best value and more bang for your buck, the Tar Heels at +800 present the best and more exciting opportunity to win big. Besides, who doesn’t like to see big-time upsets in sports?

Time is going by fast and the college football season is right around the corner, so let’s get those bets going! I’ll be back soon as I focus on the Big Ten conference, one of the more balanced conferences in the country.
