- Elite playmaking ability off schedule
- Creativity during chaos! Remains cool under duress and finds the open man.
- On schedule, he is a very consistent and dependable distributor of the football from the pocket.
- Protector of possessions rarely puts the offense in bad situations.
- Scrambler, but scrambles to buy time, eyes remain downfield
- Tough, Competitive, Gamer
- Quick smooth delivery, very accurate to all levels of the field, and shows a natural touch on throws where ball placement and throwing targets open is essential.
- Arm Strength is solid, no concerns throwing the deep out, puts more than enough zip on the ball to expand tight windows, and can create completions out of tough situations.
- Confidently attempts and makes every required throw on the field, off-platform, and arm angle-wise.
- Pocket presence, and overall feel for the rush are outstanding evades trouble well, and will stand in there and take the hit while delivering.
- Throws with good rhythm and NFL-caliber anticipation
Weaknesses
- Small Frame and may measure out closer to 5-11, does an overall good job of being elusive and avoiding big hits for the most part, but once he’s contacted, he’s down.
- Inconsistent footwork has such premier arm talent that he has a tendency to throw from his toes and off platform when not required.
- Will “Overprocess” at times and pass up the correct read waiting for the big play downfield
- Has a narrow base and appears to throw significantly from the waist up.
Overview
I’m not sure if you’ll find an evaluator that’s higher on Bryce Young as an NFL prospect than myself. He’s played everyone and beaten everyone since taking over for Mac Jones as a starter in 2021. He’s had more than his fair share of tight games on the road where he didn’t perform his best overall but managed to always make the right play. Making the “right play” preserving possessions, intangibles, and instincts are all some of the most critical/overlooked traits in a signal-caller, and Young contains them all. His arm strength and overall arm talent are both legit, but if he can continue his development physically, and throw with a firmer base, then he can really maximize his raw ability. Young came into the 2022 Season as the #1 QB on the majority of boards you would find, and through his first four games, he has done nothing to damage that seat. He currently has a TD/INT ratio of 13-2 and a QB Rating of 172.2.
