Ryan Tannehill had an amazing day as the Titans beat down the Detroit Lions. Tannehill ran for 2 touchdowns and threw for 3 more touchdowns.
Tannehill threw for 273 yards and had a passer rating of 145.8.
Derrick Henry also had another game where he rushed for over a hundred yards. Henry rushed for 147 yards on 24 carries while averaging six yards per carry.
The Tennessee Titans move one step to clinching their third playoff berth in four seasons after their 46-25 win.
The Titans (10-4) did their part with their second straight victory and fourth win in five games to stay on top of the AFC South.
The Titans still hold the tiebreaker in the division over the Colts with two games remaining in the season.
Tannehill has had a career-high in touchdowns this season. He has thrown for 31 touchdowns.
Tannehill became the first player in Titans history to account for five touchdowns and through the air in the same game.
That has not happened since Billy Volek did it 16 years ago against the Raiders
Tannehill has also shown that the Titans made the right direction signing him that 4-year, $118 million contract.
The Titans have made themselves a title contender because of Ryan Tannehill and Derrick Henry’s rushing ability.
Tannehill was not the only player that made history.
Derrick Henry scored a 3- yard touchdown run. Which gave him his 15th touchdown of the season.
That made Henry the fourth player in NFL history to run for at least 1,500 yards and 15 touchdowns in consecutive seasons.
Going into the playoffs, Henry is picking up steam as he’s just steamrolling every defense that he plays.
Henry has put himself in the MVP conversation with his historic season.
The Lions lost their second straight game under interim head Darrell Bevell.
Although Matthew Stafford threw for 252 yards and a touchdown before being taken out of the game because of the big deficit with 9 minutes left in the fourth quarterback.
Stafford was battling a rib injury during the week leading up to the game.
He missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday but was able to participate on a limited basis on Friday.
Stafford showed great leadership for this Detroit Lions.
The Lions host the Buccaneers on Saturday.
Titans visit the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.
The Titans will have a tough task being Aaron Rodgers who is one of the top MVP candidates this season.
