Houston — Today, a 14th woman has come forward in filing a lawsuit against the Texans’ star Quarterback, accusing him of sexual assault and harassment.
The claims in this latest suit that came out late Monday night in a Harris County state district court are similar to the ones in earlier cases, where women accused Watson of exposing himself, touching them with his genitals and kissing them against their will while he received a massage. Before this, the last lawsuit was filed by a woman who says Watson assaulted her back in July 2020 while in Beverly Hills, California. Since then, six other lawsuits have been filed as of Monday, while the rest were filed last week.
Rusty Hardin, Watson’s attorney, said publicly in a statement that the allegations are “meritless” and his client has denied that he acted inappropriately.
The 14 women in the lawsuits have not been identified as of yet, and each has chosen to sue separately. Houston lawyer Tony Buzbee, who is representing these women, said he plans to submit evidence from several of them to investigators.
Currently, the NFL is looking further into this matter, while authorities have declined to comment on the situation.
In the prime of his career at the age of 25, Deshaun Watson is considered one of the top Quarterbacks in the league. He has also recently requested a trade from the Houston Texans after a disappointing 4-12 season in 2020. Amidst all this controversy, it will be interesting to see what happens moving forward. We’ll see if Watson even plays football at all in 2021, and for what team.
