“Kyler Murray Will be the best Quarterback in the NFC West This year” – D. Bright
Yep, I said it. I’m calling it now, you heard it here first. Kyler Murray will be the best QB in the NFC West in the 2021-22 season. With that being said, I will even take it a step further and say Mr. Murray will also lead his team to not only a playoff berth but a deep playoff run as well!
My reasoning for this crazy synopsis is simple: It’s just time. It’s time for him to blossom into the superstar he is poised to be. This will be his third season, and he has a team full of veterans surrounding him. I almost forgot that this will be his second year with arguably the best receiver in the National Football League, D-Hop (DeAndre Hopkins).
In his rookie year, Kyler threw for 3,700 yards, 20 touchdowns, 12 interceptions, and completed 64% of his passes on 542 attempts. In addition, he rushed for 544 yards and 4 TDs. In year 2, he got blessed with DeAndre Hopkins and he did not disappoint, throwing for just less than 4,000 yards (3971, to be exact) and 27 touchdowns to his 12 interceptions and completing 67% of his passes on 558 attempts. He also rushed for 819 yards and 11 TDs.
I should also mention that, in year 2, he was selected to his first ever Pro Bowl. I also can’t forget about his 3 comeback victories and 4 game winning drives that he put together. With the addition of veteran wide receiver A.J. Green and rookie receiver Rondale Moore, I see Kyler having more weapons to go into battle with this season. The addition of James Conner does not seem to be all that glamorous at the moment but, after his disappointing stint with his hometown Pittsburgh Steelers, I see Conner treating this time in Arizona as redemption. After winning his battle with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma while in college playing at Pitt, any type of comeback is possible for the young back.
This entire time, I have not mentioned the key defensive additions who will keep opposing offenses off the field. For starters, have you ever heard of 3-time Defensive Player of the Year J.J. Watt? How about Super Bowl stud, and former Patriot and Titan, Malcolm Butler? As of this moment, many do not know first round selection Zaven Collins yet. I say yet because I think Collins will shine with this Cardinals defense, and he is already touted for a major role this season (potentially replacing Jordan Hicks as well). Yes, they might have lost Patrick Peterson but they did get better in other areas, so I think that will balance out pretty well.
With all this being said, I fully expect Kyler Murray to eclipse the 4000-yard mark, and I think he goes for 35+ touchdowns this year in the air and at least 5 on the ground. He is a very intelligent young man with amazing athletic abilities and a rocket for an arm. He has earned just about every major accolade he could at every level he has played at, except the NFL. Now, it’s his time to make his mark and shine at this level as well!
He chose to play football over baseball because of his passion for the game. I honestly believe that he will show and prove that this season. In arguably the best division in football, if he wants to prove that he belongs and was worth that #1 overall pick, now is certainly the time to do that.
