Fellow scout Alex Greb and I, who have been offering you scouting reports as part of our 2022 NFL Draft First Look series, have also been interviewing future NFL Draft prospects for months now. We will now be making a post for each of these interviews, so you can get a sneak peek at them and view them yourself! This latest one is with Louisiana’s 6’1″ 205 lb. cornerback Mekhi Garner, who is a big, long, fast athletic cornerback possessing all the physical and athletic tools to be a high draft pick in the future, be it in 2022 or 2023. He talks about his journey through junior college, his ambitions of establishing himself as an elite cornerback, his thoughts on the new NIL bill, and much more! Here are some of our favorite quotes:

  • “I want to be recognized as a top CB. I want to be a big name coming out of the Sun Belt, getting drafted.”
  • Louisiana’s 2021 season: “The biggest goal is to roll into Austin (UL’s Sept. 4th opener against Texas) and be 1-0.”
  • NFL role models: “Jalen Ramsey is a guy I watch 24/7… and I also get my gameday energy from Jamal Adams.”

Also make sure to watch our previous interviews: Cleveland Browns (formerly Miami, OH) CB Manny Rugamba, Philadelphia Eagles (formerly Buffalo) OL Kayode Awosika, Coastal Carolina CB D’Jordan Strong, and Nevada TE Cole Turner. As with this interview, all of these past ones can be found on the Bold Take Scouting Podcast, available on YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts.
