Defensive end J.J Watt was released by the Houston Texans after 10 seasons today. Watt went on his Twitter page earlier and posted a video confirming the news was true and that both sides mutually agreed to part ways. In the video, Watt thanked the city of Houston and the Texans organization for his time there and said that moving on will be tough but he’ll get through it.

During his Texans career (2011-20), Watt had numerous highlights and received many awards including being named NFL Defensive Player of the Year three times (2012, 2014, 2015), making First-Team All Pro five times (2012-2015, 2018), being a 5x Pro Bowler, (2012-2015, 2018), leading the NFL in sacks twice (2012, 2015) and winning both the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award and Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year award in 2017.

Watt, 31, a former first-round pick (#11 in 2011) out of the University of Wisconsin now enters free agency and is looking to win the only thing missing off his resume, a Super Bowl ring. The Pittsburgh Steelers, Green Bay Packers, Chicago Bears, New England Patriots, and Dallas Cowboys are just a few of the teams who may be interested in Watt’s services this offseason. Wherever he ends up Watt is out to prove he still has something left in the tank. If he’s able to stay healthy and perform at a high level like he’s done throughout his career, then he might just be the missing piece for a championship team. http://
