Kellen Mond

Kellen Mond is a 6’2″ 217 pound quarterback out of Texas A&M University. He has the arm talent, accuracy, and mobility to be a one of the top picks in this upcoming NFL draft. Mond had elite competition in his college career matching up against both Alabama and Clemson, respectively. Mond has a strong, accurate arm that shows in passes into tight coverage, accuracy in deep passes, and accuracy on the run in play-action. Mond’s mobility gives offensive coordinators an expanded playbook, by having RPO, play-action, and designed runs that keeps defenses honest.

I have Mond as the fourth highest rated quarterback behind Trevor Lawrence, Zach Wilson and Justin Fields. He can be schemed in an NFL offense like Dak Prescott or Justin Herbert were in their rookie years. Offensive coordinators have the choice of gradually getting Mond acclimated to NFL defenses by implementing a run-heavy, simplified playbook that will use intermediate passes and occasional deep passes, or open up the playbook with all levels of passing with play-action.

Athletic Ability Grade: 8.3

He’s mobile with quick feet, and he has the ability to roll out of the pocket and evade defenders in play-action. Mond has speed to extend plays and run for chunks of yards in designed runs as well.

Pocket Pressure Grade: 7.9

Mond will stand in the pocket while pressured and make reads, while making a quick pass to a receiver. He also displays footwork to maneuver away from pressure and make correct reads and throws.

Passing Technique Grade: 8.7

He’s efficient in short, intermediate, and deep passes. Mond has a fast release to make passes in tight windows. He will throw to the receiver where he only he can catch the ball. Mond is also accurate on the run, in play-action or designed movement plays in the pocket.

Overall:

Mond is a pure passer with great arm talent and has mobility to expand the playbook. Mond has been tested against top competition in the SEC and has shown the ability to make plays on talented defenses. In the Senior Bowl, Mond was under center in three-step-drops, reading the defense, and accurately passing the ball to receiving options. Mond is one of the top quarterbacks in the 2021 NFL Draft.
